What inspires you today?
I travel quite regularly and always find inspiration almost everywhere I go. I also find working with creative young designers is stimulating and inspirational.
What has been the most thrilling moment of your career so far?
Being inducted into the Design Institute’s Hall of Fame a few years ago was a pretty thrilling moment – peer recognition is very humbling.
What would be your dream project or collaboration?
I would love to design an island boutique resort from scratch with complete freedom to design every aspect from the structures (collaborating with an architect) to the interior spaces, furnishings, menus, tableware — everything!
What is your most treasured belonging?
A painting that belonged to my great-grandmother. Every time I look at it, I’m five years old again.
What beauty item you can’t live without on holiday?
I never travel without my Aveda shampoo and conditioner – as any other brand does bad things to my hair and scalp – and there’s nothing worse than a bad hair day when you’re away!
